WHAT IS YOGA?

The origins of yoga can be traced back 5000 years ago and has spread all around the world. Yoga is a way of life to control your body and mind to attain a state of neutrality. There are eight methods to achieve this special physical and mental state, one of which is Asanas, known as the “yoga poses” in modern terms.

A daily Asana practice helps prevent minor discomforts such as back pain and stiff shoulders. In addition, you become sensitive to your body, allowing you to sense any emerging discomforts and address them through yoga.

Speaking of my experience, whenever my body is stiff after long hours at my desk, I relieve it with an Asana session. I experienced the healing power of yoga when I was able to fix my back pain after postpartum. I went to a chiropractor to realign my body. Once I was in a condition to exercise again, I practiced yoga on an everyday basis for a year. And after 1 year, look at me! My back is strong.

Yoga is also said to prevent or improve various illnesses and conditions, such as headaches, diabetes, high blood pressure, insomnia, joint pain, asthma, infertility, fatigue, rheumatism, and much more.

I believe that yoga is a powerful tool to balance your mind. Before practicing Asanas, I could not explain why I felt irritated or was in a depressed mood.

But after observing my mind and body through yoga and meditation, I realized that some of those mood swings were rooted in physical discomfort. For example, a simple stiff neck, which I had not really addresses, was the root cause my irritation and brain fog. And the accumulation of minor discomforts, like those, led to unexplained stress and anger.

By fixing these physical discomforts by Asanas, you can observe your mind and bring it back to state of neutrality. You gain the ability to manage your stress and become a more polished version of yourself.
